NOAA E-Learning

NOAA's Workforce Management getting started on E-Learning page provides tips and information for accessing the DOC E-learning site.

There are two courses currently offered by NOAA's Aviation Safety Program.

  • Basic Aviation Safety (listed as Basic Avn Safety module2B) which covers the basic elements of aviation safety and the integration of safety into mission operations.
  • Aviation Safety Policy covers the newly issued NAO 209-124 and its application.

The courses are available to NOAA employees and are listed in the NOAA catalog, click to browse the catalog and then select the topic Safety & Security.

You must satisfactorily complete the course quiz in order to receive completion credit.  The "My Courses" page does not automatically refresh once the course is completed. If you have completed the course, you should refresh the page and the status should change. If it is still not showing as complete then you may have exited out of the course improperly or there could be some settings on your machine that caused the course not to track properly and complete.

Once the course has been completed, go back to the "my courses" page. It should now show that you have completed the course. You can print this page or print the completion certificate - the link to the certificate is below the course name section - and present it to your Program Manager.

*If you experience any trouble logging on, please first check with your line office coordinator (LOC) to ensure your NOAA Locator and LDAP (mail) information is correct.  If correct, the LOC should then precede to check with HRMO for further inquiry.

For Non-NOAA personnel: Below are links to the training courses that are on this Web site. Please note, we do not have an automated process to log your completion of the course at this time. After you have completed the course and taken the test, you must do a screen print of the page showing your score and e-mail it to your program manager before you exit the training module. Your program manager will complete the training certificate for you. They can access the certificates at our Aviation Safety Page on our internal web site. (Please note, the manager must have a NOAA E-mail account to access the site and the certificates.) See the bottom of this page for information on how to do a print screen.

  • To access the presentation: After clicking either of the courses, click the "Launch Application" button (you may need to enable the pop-up window for this session). If you get an error message "Unable to find a SCORMAPI, this session will not be logged" just click ok.

  • To see a text version of what is being said in the presentation, click on the "Notes" button on the bottom right of the screen.

  • Remember to send a screen shot of the page showing your score to your program manager before exiting the course module.

How to do a print screen: While still on the page in the training module that shows your score, Click the "Alt" plus "Print Screen" buttons. Go into your e-mail account and address a message to your program manager with a subject line about completion of training. In the message area, you can request that the program manager print a certificate of training for you and then hit "CTRL" plus "v" to paste the screen shot into the message. (You can also go into Word (open a new file) or WordPad and paste the screen shot into either of those files - you can then save the file and print it to give to you program manager and keep for your records.)

If you have a multifunction keyboard, you may have a print button at the top - you can just hit the print button to print a hard copy of your score.
