NOAA ship Henry B. Bigelow is Launched and Construction of Third Fisheries Survey Vessel Begins

Bigelow is launched sideways into the waterThe second fisheries survey vessel (FSV), Henry B. Bigelow, was launched at VT Halter Marine Inc., in Pascagoula, Mississippi on July 8, 2005.

Watch the video of the christening as Catherine Silver breaks the bottle of champagne across the bow of the ship and the video clip of the ship launch as it slides down the ways and into the water.

RADM Behn with VT Halter Marine employee in front of steel-cutting equipment Construction of Fisheries Survey Vessel #3 was kicked off at the VT Halter Marine's Pascagoula shipyard with a ceremonial cutting of steel on July 7.
