2009 Changes of Command

Congratulations to the incoming commanding officers and thanks for a job well done to the outgoing commanding officers of the following ships and offices:

Capt. John E. Lowell, Jr. has been named the new director of NOAA's Office of Coast Survey.  He succeeds Capt. Steven R. Barnum, who retired after 29 years of federal service. View the news release

LCDR AdamsPisces - LCDR Jeremy Adams assumed command from CAPT Christopher Moore at a change of command ceremony November 7, 2009. The ship was commissioned the previous day at its home port in Pascagoula, Miss.

Ka'imimoana - LCDR Stephanie Koes assumed command from LCDR James Illg on July 10, 2009 at a change of command ceremony on Ford Island, Hawaii. Read the Star Bulletin article: Ocean lover returns to the water: Stepanie Koes is the new commanding officer of the NOAA ship Ka'imimoana.

Hi'ialakai change of command ceremonyHi'ialikai - CDR John Caskey assumed command from CDR Jon Swallow on February 20 during a ceremony at the ship's home port on Ford Island, Honolulu, Hawaii.
