Diving with Nitrox: PO2 level reduced to 1.4 ATA

New Nitrox bottles at the NOAA Diving Center.
As of September 5, 2015, the NOAA Diving Program's maximum oxygen partial pressure (PO2) level was reduced from 1.6 ATA to a maximum of 1.4 ATA.
This PO2 level is currently the standard in the military and other federal, civilian and the vast majority of academic diving programs.
A maximum PO2 of 1.6 will continue to be allowed during the decompression phase of decompression dives.
