NOAA aircraft support air chemistry projects in western U.S.

2015
Apr 30

NOAA Lockheed WP-3D Orion N43RF recently supported a NOAA Research/Earth Systems Research Laboratory mission out of multiple cities in the western United States. The project, called SONGNEX 2015, involves universities, industries, and government agencies that are working to understand the atmospheric effects of changing energy use in the United States. N43RF and a NOAA Twin Otter, N48RF, have also supported a multi-organization effort to study a mysterious methane hotspot detected from space by a satellite.
