NOAA jet participates in hurricane awareness tour
From May 3-8, Hurricane Hunters from the NOAA Aircraft Operations Center and the U.S. Air Force Reserve’s 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron (USAFR) and experts from the National Weather Service, Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the American Red Cross on a tour of six Atlantic coastal cities to raise awareness about the importance of preparing for the 2015 hurricane season. During the East Coast Hurricane Awareness Tour, NOAA’s Gulfstream IV-SP and a USAFR C-130J made stops in Halifax, N.S., Atlantic City, N.J., Norfolk, Va., Myrtle Beach, S.C., St. Augustine, Fla., and Marathon, Fla.
