Public explores the deep sea with NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer
NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer is conducting a two-month expedition to explore marine protected areas in the region. Using remotely operated vehicles equipped with high-definition video cameras, the ship and its crew are investigating deeper waters in and around Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, Johnston Atoll in the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument, and the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary.
