NOAA WP-3D Orion Departing Kangerlussuaq, Greenland for an Operation IceBridge Mission Flight

NOAA Lockheed WP-3D Orion N43RF, also known as "Miss Piggy," departing Kangerlussuaq, Greenland on its way to support an Operation IceBridge mission flight. NASA’s Operation IceBridge images Earth's polar ice to better understand connections between polar regions and the global climate system. IceBridge studies annual changes in thickness of sea ice, glaciers and ice sheets. NOAA's WP-3D was tasked to fly these missions when the NASA P-3 was down for long-term maitnance.
